1. Princess and Queens
Women are students, mothers, businesswomen and everything in between, and we work hard to accomplish our goals. We are beautiful, strong and capable. We deserve respect and have earned the right to be treated like princesses and queens. |
2. Ain't No Love I've known family members, close friends, associates and acquaintances that were in abusive relationships. Whenever I try to convince them to get out, they come up with all kinds of excuses, but the one excuse that I hear again and again is "We love each other - he's just going through some things." But that ain't no love. People who love you don't abuse you. Abuse is a form of control, not love. |
3. Incomplete Most women don't get enough appreciation and gratitude when they are in relationships. Men take us for granted - until we leave. Then they realize they are incomplete without us. |
4. Sticks and Stones I'm the type of person who has always had very ambitious goals and dreams, but there is always someone who tries to stifle these ambitions. Yet these same people later look for hand outs and behave as if I didn't have to work hard to get where I am. They only see the rewards and never acknowledge the effort I invested to reach these goals. |

5. Prescription
The fact that men fall asleep immediately after good sex makes me think of sex as medication. I started using the word prescription as a synonym for sex - where "the pharmacy is downtown between the knees." This song is about women feeling sexually empowered. |
6. See You Sometimes when I go out, I make eye contact with a guy, and then, in my head, I'll go through what I would want to say and how the conversation would go. It just never seems like the right time to say these things. But what if? |
7. Be There I believe a woman should have her own life, with her own family, friends, and interests. But when I'm in a relationship, I always get criticized for not being "physically present" enough of the time. What I try to make clear is that I will not be there all the time, but I will be there when it matters most. |
8. Never Gonna Leave You I had this one boyfriend that really lit up my life. It didn't last, but he had such a positive influence on me. This song is about the happy times in our relationship, when I felt like I was never going to leave. |

9. Conflict My introduction to God and the church was through my grandmother who took me to church almost every Sunday. However, my experiences with the church have been filled with sexism, racism, homophobia and all types of discrimination. I now believe in God because of my personal life experiences, my gut, and my heart. My conflict lies between what I believe God and life to be and what the church and bible teaches me about God and life. |

10. Middle Class Poverty When I was laid off from my job as a computer programmer, I struggled to pay my bills and stay out of foreclosure. I have a Masters degree, but I couldn't get a job. In one way, felt like I was living in poverty, but in another I felt like I was middle class because of my college education. |

11. Persevere
My life has been one with many ups and downs, struggles and triumphs. The best advice I've ever received was from my mother, who's had her share of struggles as well. She's always said, "Keep going-keep your head up, and things will work out. What you become depends on you, so work hard and stay positive." My mom has proven to be pretty wise. |
